Strengthening Community Bonds: our Vision for a Lasting Winter Tradition
As we prepare for another exciting season of American Pond Hockey, we’ve been working with our local town board to ensure the event aligns with our community’s needs and interests. Our goals haven’t changed, but through recent conversations with the board, we realized that our vision and the potential impact of the event weren’t fully understood. This experience of having an open dialogue with our local officials highlighted the importance of sharing our story more openly with all of you, our valued followers and community.
A key development in these discussions has been renewed support for establishing and maintaining a public skating spot at the Aqua Bowl in downtown Minocqua—a feature we’ve upheld for two years, though it hadn’t been fully recognized or validated until now. We’ve seen a lot of potential for creating a winter-long skating spot in this location. With additional resources and support from sponsors, we aim to make this a space that extends beyond our adult hockey tournaments and serves the community throughout the season. If anyone would like to join our efforts to support this vision, we welcome you to reach out.
In addition, we’re committed to supporting local non-profits through this event, with a focus on raising funds for the Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena and the Volunteer Minocqua Fire & Rescue Department. We welcome more non-profits to join us and take advantage of this platform to connect with the community and raise additional support. Interested organizations can sign up through our website for more information.
We’re also excited to announce our continued partnership with Rocky Reef Brewing Co. This season, we’re bringing back fan-favorite Pond Hockey Pils along with a limited edition hard seltzer, both of which were very popular last year. A portion of the proceeds from these beverages will go directly to benefit the Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena. Stay tuned for the release of these favorites!
